Last week, the El Segundo Police Department completed an active shooter response drill at El Segundo High School. Following the drill, district administrators and local law enforcement came together inside the school to debrief and strengthen our response plans.

Safety drills like this one help the district and local law enforcement stay prepared in case of emergency. We are grateful to our local officers for their continued partnership and support. 💙

Did you know? In California, only about 50% of students meet the A-G requirements needed for admission to the state’s public universities. 🏫

At El Segundo High School, 83% of the Class of 2025 completed the A-G requirements before graduation. That makes us one of the top districts in the South Bay and across the state when it comes to college readiness! 💪

Chevron Executive Jeff Wilson stands at the front of a modern conference room, speaking to a group of about a dozen seated attendees. The attendees, seated around a U-shaped table, are listening attentively, some with notebooks, drinks, and laptops in front of them. The room has white walls, exposed ceilings with pipes and lighting, and a minimalist, industrial design. Papers, water bottles, and coffee cups are visible on the tables.
El Segundo High School’s 2025 A-G completion rate increased to 83% in 2025! 🎉

This achievement represents the percentage of graduates from the Class of 2025 who met the minimum A-G requirements needed for admission to California’s public universities.

We’re incredibly proud of our students, teachers, and staff members for their hard work that made this possible!

Meet ESUSD Sweethearts Matt and Amber Pate! 💙 Matt and Amber first met when she was in fourth grade. Her best friend invited him over, and they instantly hit it off. A few days later, she was the only girl invited to his birthday party! Although they were two grades apart and eventually lost touch, they continued to see each other around town occasionally. Years later, when Amber was 21 and Matt was 23, he stopped by her house to visit her brother... but secretly, he was hoping to see her. The rest is history! Now, they’ve been married for seven years and are proud parents of two daughters. This September marks 14 years since they rekindled their childhood spark!
