El Segundo Unified School District

Welcome to the El Segundo Unified School District

Food Services Department!

**IMPORTANT 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR MEAL SERVICE UPDATE**

The El Segundo Unified School District Food Services Department will offer breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost starting August 25, 2021.  This is made possible through a waiver from the United States Department of Agriculture and California Department of Education. We encourage all families who may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals to complete and submit an Alternative Household Income Form. Eligible families are able to access additional meal support through the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program.

The P-EBT program allocates additional funds to eligible children to purchase groceries outside of the school meal program. There have been prior issuances to eligible children in the summer and fall of 2020. The 2021 Summer P-EBT program was approved on July 22, 2021, and will provide each eligible child benefits totaling $375 in a single issuance. If a child was previously eligible for P-EBT benefits, summer P-EBT benefits will be issued onto an existing P-EBT card. If a child becomes newly eligible prior to August 15, 2021, that child will be issued a new P-EBT card that will be mailed during the month of December 2021. More information can be found here: https://capandemic-ebt.org/.

In addition to providing eligible families important resources, completing the Alternative Income Form will provide additional funding to the El Segundo Unified School District. Qualifying children receive supplemental funding through the Local Control Funding Formula to enhance student services across the district.

Completed Alternative Household Income Forms can be submitted to Evelyn Castro either via email at ecastro@esusd.net, by mail (El Segundo Unified School District (ATTN: Evelyn Castro), 641 Sheldon St., El Segundo, CA 90245, or drop off in the green drop box located in our district office lobby.
