El Segundo High School Biomedical Science Pathway Establishes Partnership with UCLA and California Society of Anesthesiologists

El Segundo High School’s Biomedical Science Pathway has established a partnership, through Project Lead the Way (PLTW), with UCLA and the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) that offers educational enrichment to its PLTW program. The partnership is being piloted with two other high schools in addition to ESHS: Venice High School and the Girls Leadership Academy. This exciting project brings together specially trained teachers, students and physician residents from UCLA to help deliver real world biomedical skills and application to the ESHS pathway classroom.

Dear ESUSD Parents and Community,

The tragic school shooting that occurred in Parkland, Florida yesterday likely has students, staff, and parents returning to school with a heightened sense of alertness or anxiety about school safety. El Segundo Middle School Selected as California and National ‘School to Watch’

El Segundo Middle School (ESMS) was named one of California’s 2018 “Schools to Watch-Taking Center Stage” model middle schools. ESMS is one of only 112 model schools that have been identified statewide since 2003. Each year, the California Middle Grades Alliance (CMGA) identifies middle schools that are academically excellent, responsive to the developmental needs of middle school students, socially equitable, and structured for success. 2018-2019 El Segundo Resident Registration

We will begin accepting 2018-2019 Resident Registration on the following dates for those families new to El Segundo or that have never been enrolled in our schools:

Resident TK/Kindergarten - Monday, March 19th through Friday, April 27th
Resident 1st - 12th Grades - Monday April 30th through Friday, May 25th
New residents to El Segundo - TK-12th - April 30th & ongoing
By registering in a timely manner, this will allow us ample time for the purposes of planning, ordering books/supplies and addressing any applicable staffing needs.

NOTE - Ongoing resident registration will continue after the above dates for all new El Segundo residents.

Nominate a Staff Member for Classified Employee of the Year

You are invited to nominate an El Segundo Unified School District staff member for recognition as an employee of the year. The Classified School Employee of the Year Program honors staff for their contributions to education for students in grades K-12.

Staff categories for awards include:

Child Nutrition
Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities
Office and Technical
Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance
Support Services and Security

El Segundo High School is pleased to announce its selection as a school site for the High School of Business™ program. Beginning in the 2018-19 academic year, the program is designed to challenge students through accelerated, project-based curriculum in preparation for college-level business administration programs. Students at Richmond Street School (RSS) are discovering a new way of learning one seed at a time. Richmond Street School’s Learning Garden was established several years ago, and has recently gained momentum with the help of a dynamic duo who are passionate about helping students learn the importance of planting, sustainable food sources, and the benefits to humans and the environment.
