Gable Solomon, Beloved Custodian Retires After 35 Years at ESHS

The Associated Student Body organized the surprise send off for Gable to commemorate the 35 years of service he provided to the school. The band played Sweet Caroline while the Varsity Cheer squad performed. A tribute video, filmed by junior student Kaeden Hahn, featured teachers and staff testimonials of their best memories of Gable and their farewells. More comments and commemorative gifts were presented in front of the crowd. The yearbook staff, led by Mr. David Reed honored Gable by dedicating the yearbook to him and presented him a framed picture signed by the staff. The former PTA President, Beth Muraida, presented him with a commemorative brick with gratitude for his years of service. Other gifts bestowed upon Gable included a deep sea fishing trip, a personalized grilling apron, and a donation to his daughters scholarship fund.
The rally closed with the Choir singing "Stand Together," a tribute song to Gable.
Community Cable recorded the event to eventually share with Gable and those who were not able to attend in person.
Director of Student Activities Robin Espinoza says, "Gable IS El Segundo High School. He is the constant here. He is an example to us all about what it means to come to work with a smile and a positive attitude no matter what. While Gable will be missed here we wish him all the best in his well deserved retirement! "
