ESUSD Superintendent's Message Regarding Update on TK-2 Hybrid School Reopening

Dear ESUSD Families, Employees and Community,

In order to provide our families ample time to plan and ensure a safe and organized return to campuses for all, ESUSD has selected Tuesday, December 8th as the date to reopen school for students in TK-2nd grade. Further details regarding timeline and what to expect will be forthcoming the first week of December.

It is important to note that ESUSD plans to move forward to reopen schools for now, however, the school district acknowledges that the current COVID-19 surge results in further uncertainty. Thus, I want all our stakeholders to understand that the potential exists that Los Angeles County Department of Public Health could issue a short-term health order that impacts all on campus services for students, including youth conditioning at the high school, limited specialized services for high need students district-wide, and the TK-2 waiver reopening plan.

COVID-19 Health Orders Regarding Holidays and Travel

There have been several important health guidance documents issued that I would like to bring to the attention of our families and employees in order to plan for the holiday season in ways that reduce the spread of COVID-19:

ESUSD continues to actively monitor all health orders from state and local agencies to ensure the school district protocols and procedures remain in full alignment. We are thankful for your understanding and patience as we continue to monitor an ever changing and ever evolving situation and work towards continuing to offer the most beneficial and safest educational experience to all of our students and staff.

With gratitude that we are in this together,

Melissa Moore, Ed.D.
