The influential school and neighborhood review website recently released its 2020 Best School Districts lists. Segmented into national, state, and local rankings, El Segundo Unified holds notable spots at each level.
El Segundo Unified School District Notable Niche Distinctions:
- Top 3% Best School Districts in America and top 8% in California
- Top 4% Best School Districts to Teach in America, top 5% in California, and top 10% in the Los Angeles area
- Top 4% Safest School Districts in America, top 2% in California, top 6% in the Los Angeles area
“We are pleased with these rankings and other acknowledgements ESUSD receives from outside agencies,” said ESUSD Superintendent Melissa Moore. “We also believe there is always room for improvement. The El Segundo Unified School District’s Board of Education and I are currently in the process of developing ESUSD’s Goals for the Future to identify the most important or pressing needs for the next four years.We are also seeking parent and community member feedback on these goals.”
El Segundo Unified schools have individually secured notableNiche.comrankings. El Segundo High School ranks in the top 4% of Best Public High Schools in America out of the nearly 20,000 high schools in the U.S. ranked by Niche. El Segundo High School ranks in the top 6% of the Best Public High Schools in California. The high school also ranked in the top 5% of Best High Schools for Athletes in California.
El Segundo Middle School ranks in the top 5% of the Best Public Middle Schools in California. And ESUSDelementary schools, Center Street School and Richmond Street School, earned top rankingsin the stateas well, withspots in the top 6% of Best Public Elementary Schools in California.

According to Niche, it arrives at its rankings after a rigorous analysis of key statistics and data from thousands of schools and includes information from the U.S. Department of Education and millions of reviews from students and parents. Ranking factors also include state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district.
