El Segundo High School Class of 2017 Takes a Walk Down Memory Lane; Seniors in caps and gowns visit Richmond Street and Center Street Schools in nostalgic visit

Students in El Segundo High School’s (ESHS) Class of 2017 will put on their caps and gowns for the first time on June 2 and walk to the elementary school from which they got their humble beginnings over a decade ago. Dr. Melissa Moore Receives Scholarship to Global Summit as Leading Educator

El Segundo Unified School District Superintendent Melissa Moore has been recognized as a leading educator and awarded a full scholarship to attend the upcoming “ASU GSV Summit” for a gathering of some of the greatest minds in education and workforce innovation. El Segundo Long Range Facility Master Plan

The El Segundo Unified School District Long Range Facility Master Plan describes short-term and long-range facility recommendations. This document is a plan that the Board of Education will use to guide ongoing maintenance and care decisions for our district facilities and identify key facility modernization and new construction projects based upon the District’s goals, Boards’ priorities and funding availability. El Segundo Unified School District Has the Highest Graduation Rate in the Region According to California Department of Education

El Segundo High School achieved the highest rate of graduates in the region in 2016, with 99.4 percent of its senior class taking home diplomas! The overall graduation rate for the El Segundo Unified School District is 98.9—also the highest in the region. ESUSD percentages far exceed the state’s average graduation rate of 83.2 percent.

California’s high school graduation rate increased for the seventh year in a row and reached a record high for the class of 2016, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson announced this week.

This year, the El Segundo High School Choir’s spring performance tour took 50 students on a memorable trip to paradise.

El Segundo High School Students Place Second in 2017 Raytheon Engineering Games

A team of three El Segundo High School Engineering Pathway students took second place out of 30 high schools competing in the 2017 Raytheon Engineering Games in February. Along with their AP Physics Teacher Daniel Horvath, students Ryan Hoerner, Ben Kooper and Michael Leahy actually scored the same amount of points as the first place team during the challenge, and ultimately took second place with a completion time tiebreaker. Chevron Recognized with Partners in Educational Excellence Award

The El Segundo Unified School District is pleased to announce that the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 14 has honored Chevron with the 2017 Partners in Educational Excellence Award. The Partners in Educational Excellence designation is awarded to an organization that offers broad support and active involvement in the community, and has had sustained, positive impact on student achievement and learning. The ACSA recognized the Chevron El Segundo Refinery for effective collaboration between education and community leaders in the creation and implementation of programs to benefit ESUSD, and for creating innovative approaches to dealing with the complex challenges facing public education. Marisa Janicek Awarded California Schools Administrator of the Year

El Segundo Unified School District’s Executive Director of Educational Services Marisa Janicek was selected District Administrator of the Year (Region 14) by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA)—the second consecutive year the award has been given to an ESUSD administrator.
